How the U.S. Media Has Had a Big Hand in Helping Ron Paul Win the Republican Nomination
A political editorial By Bryan Rusch
May 7th, 2012
It would seem absurd to think that the corporate free press in America is actually helping Ron Paul in his bid to become the Republican nominee doesn’t it? Well, not really. In fact, the news pundits and political analysts have actually done more harm than good to their latest “presumptive” nominee, “Willard (Mitt) Romney” than they have to the other last man standing in the Republican race, Ron Paul.
The cadre of established press corps in the United States may soon become the collective press corpse, unless they take drastic action to change course in the way they report the facts in this primary race. Of course it is now a damned if you do, damned if you don’t scenario for the establishment press. The question now is which course will they take?
So how has the U.S. media energized an irate, tireless, minority that is the Ron Paul phenomenon, or should I say, Revolution? First, they insult them, then belittle them, then try to ignore them, and then fight them, even if it means the establishment press’ peril of becoming completely irrelevant.
We'll skip over the 2008 nominating experience of the Ron Paul phenomenon and jump right into the pattern of the 2012 nominating experience. The pattern has been almost exactly the same, except this time Ron Paul is running further down the nominating path, and the old model of dismissing Ron Paul is yielding some very interesting, unintended consequences for the powers-that-be. It is my feeling this will result in a completely different outcome for the Republican nominee.
Before this horse race even started in earnest, the news analysts and professional political pundits all declared in unison that Ron Paul was the “can’t win” candidate. I’m quite certain the initiated within the Ron Paul Revolution, and even the uninitiated, all heard and remember this talking point by the ordained opinionaires. They authoritatively proclaimed in unison that, “He can’t win”. And if you are a Ron Paul fan, then you need to thank the Lord they did proclaim that talking point proudly, loudly, and often! Because the initiated in the Ron Paul Revolution, if they realized it or not, and I don’t think they did to a large extent, subconsciously were hearing the rest of the sentence from the clarion choir of chief news readers, moneymakers, and changers as, “HE CAN’T WIN…, because if he does, we will be out of business!” Who will be out of business? The ones demanding that “He can’t win!” This talking point was in fact a desperate cry from the establishment machine; for the people not to reach for the Ron Paul cord, and yank their lifeline, and hurl them into dying a humiliating death. They may have just as well been desperately pleading every second… “Please God, may the rocks fall upon us and hide us from the face of Ron Paul’s coming!" The moneymakers and changers who depend upon the machine’s lifeline of the Federal Reserve to provide them with the enormous benefit of cheap money first, the lobbyists who get their hands greased by corporations to maintain the status quo, the politicians who make money on both sides of the deal; and the well-funded news makers whose provisions come from those listed prior, who are steadily fed the “news” straight from the White House without objection; or a shred of introspection for that matter, would be lost for good! I would bet that the irate minority whenever they heard, “Ron Paul can’t win” whether from parroting neocons, or a self proclaimed politically astute stooge, largely took that muse, or should I say ruse, as a direct challenge to their ego and their dedication to their world view on what they consider to be the absolute honest truth. What the Paul follower may have been missing is that this mantra of, “He can’t win” was actually a tremendous compliment coming from their adversaries and a validation to their movement [i.e. “revolution”]. After all, the corporate media still, to this day, does not understand the mentality of the Ron Paul collective mind.
